Responsible & Sustainable

Tourism Declares

At Lemongrass Marketing we believe that travel brings people and cultures together, it helps us learn, grow, and it enriches our lives. It helps us grow our understanding of the world, build connections and support local communities – we believe that travel makes the world a better place.

However, we acknowledge the impact of travel on the environment and that as a travel company, like all other companies in this industry; we need to make a change now as we face a climate emergency that we cannot ignore.

The world that we love to explore is at risk and the effects of climate change are more apparent than ever. We need a strong, immediate and unified response from the travel industry and that is why we at Lemongrass Marketing are proud to announce that we have signed Tourism Declares – an initiative that supports tourism businesses, organisations and individuals in declaring a climate emergency.

By signing up to Tourism Declares, Lemongrass Marketing is pledging to support their purposeful action. To declare publicly our promise and our plan of action, to take purposeful measures to reduce our carbon footprint and to tackle the climate emergency.

We declare our shared commitment to unite all stakeholders in transforming tourism to deliver effective climate action.

We support the global commitment to halve emissions by 2030 and reach Net Zero as soon as possible before 2050.

We will consistently align our actions with the latest scientific recommendations, so as to ensure our approach remains consistent with a rise of no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.

Like all signatories, we commit to the following five actions:

  1. Deliver a climate action plan within 12 month of signing.
  2. Report publicly both progress against interim and long-term targets, as well as the actions being taken, at least annually.
  3. Align our plan with five shared pathways (measure, decarbonise, regenerate, collaborate, finance) to ensure climate action is consistent across all of tourism.
  4. Share information on activities connected to Tourism Declares and/or the Glasgow Declaration among contacts and networks.
  5. Work in a collaborative and constructive spirit with other members of Tourism Declares and/or signatories of the Glasgow Declaration.

We have a strong, values-driven culture and are en route to becoming the UK’s first travel communications B-Corp, a community of companies that use the power of business as a force for good. Its aim is to create a sustainable, inclusive economy by reducing poverty and inequality, creating high-quality jobs and a healthier environment.
