Our 2021 Charity: Trauma Recovery Centre UK

TRC Business Partnership-08 bronze

Lemongrass Marketing are proud to have been a bronze business sponsor to the Trauma Recovery Centre (TRC) since July 2018.

TRC facilitate the recovery of children and young people aged 3-25 who have experienced psychological trauma as a result of abuse, neglect, sex trafficking and more, through creative therapy. The charity works in some of the most deprived areas of the UK to provide heavily subsidised and/or free therapy for children and their families who cannot afford it themselves.

TRC also provide trauma training for professionals working with children so that schools can be better equipped at spotting signs and symptoms of trauma so that not a single child slips through the cracks.

TRC hold awareness days to increase awareness of the work they do, increase community support, and help them make a difference to as many young people’s lives as possible. We were very proud and willing to sponsor the charity to help make their awareness event happen.

You can watch the video below to gain a better insight into the work that TRC do.

We are proud to sponsor the TRC and support their invaluable outreach to children and families across the country. With their latest recovery centre opening in our home city of Oxford, we are aware more than ever before of how valuable their commitment is, to see children and families restored from experiences of trauma.

More information about TRC

The TRC has four projects that have each been started to complement each other with the sole purpose of bringing positive, hopeful and strategic intervention to families who are struggling having experienced trauma.

  1. The TRC Therapy Centre provides trauma recovery-focused creative therapy for children, young people, and a therapeutic trauma recovery parenting group to support their parents/carers, in order to help the whole family process their traumatic experience so that their trauma symptoms are reduced in their daily lives. We are able to work with families and see them transform as they recover from the trauma.  The children and young people become more able to focus on things that they should be focusing on rather than expending energy on survival methods.
  2. The Treehouse Project is our specialist provision for children, young people and their carers who have been rescued from human trafficking.  We have a team of people who are trained in providing therapeutic aftercare as well as a mentoring team.
  3. The Oakside Creative Education Centre is a provision for those children and young people who struggle with mainstream school.  They may be seen as children and young people who are defiant, non-engaging or phobic.
  4. The TRC Training Centre underpins the three projects to ensure a constant provision of excellent training for all our teams and other professionals from key experts in trauma recovery in the UK.

The TRC HQ was set up in Bath in 2011 by Betsy de Thierry, the charities Founding Director. Since then, they have opened 4 more centres in Bristol, Bradford, Guernsey and Oxford, and more are due to open.
