Borgo Egnazia

In 2023, Aldo Melpignano introduced Egnazia Ospitalità Italiana, a hotel management group that already includes various properties scattered throughout Italy.

Alongside family-owned establishments like Borgo Egnazia and Masseria Le Carrube, there is Ostuni a Mare in Puglia, Santavenere in Maratea, HOTEL de LEN in Cortina d'Ampezzo, and three additional openings scheduled between 2024 and 2025: Castel Badia in Brunico, a property near Rome, and Hotel Ancora in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Egnazia group offers entrepreneurs and hoteliers an operational management model that emphasises an entirely Italian hospitality culture.

Sustainability

  • In 2024, HOTEL de LEN was awarded the prestigious ClimaHotel Certification - a pledge of quality and respect for the environment - becoming the first accommodation facility in Cortina d’Ampezzo to obtain this recognition
  • In 2024, Egnazia Ospitalita Italiana launched the CLARA Association - a project aimed at recovering and enhancing local traditions, bringing to light the knowledge and values of times past. The association, strongly desired by Aldo Melpignano and his wife, Camilla Vender, embodies love and respect for culture and traditions; a vision deeply connected to the places and local community that have always characterised Borgo Egnazia. It has taken on new form also thanks to the friendship with Clara D'Aprile, a custodian of Puglian traditions who has been collecting and passing on ancient arts and ancestral knowledge for a lifetime

Case Study - 80 Pieces of Coverage Around a G7 Summit - and Keeping All of It Positive

Hosting a G7 summit brings a hotel an enormous amount of press attention and almost no control over its tone. Political correspondents are not writing hotel reviews. They're writing about politics, and the venue is scenery at best and a stick to beat someone with at worst.

The job was making sure Borgo Egnazia came out of it well.

The Short Version

Lemongrass Marketing, a B Corp-certified travel communications agency in, created, monitored and managed UK coverage for Borgo Egnazia before, during and after it hosted the G7 Italia summit.

The Challenge

Monitor UK coverage for Borgo Egnazia in relation to hosting the G7 Italia prior to, during and after the event, across print, online, television and radio - and secure coverage that would show the property in a positive light rather than a neutral or negative one, by working with foreign correspondents for national and international news and business outlets.

Here's how we did it

We engaged the news correspondents directly

Political and foreign correspondents don't take hotel pitches. But they do need context, access and accurate information about a venue they're covering, and providing that well is how you influence tone without ever asking for anything.

We hosted The Times' Italy Correspondent properly

We arranged a site visit and marketing team meeting for The Times' Italy Correspondent, which produced favourable print and online features - coverage from a news journalist rather than a travel one, which carries a different kind of weight entirely.

We ran a parallel travel-desk strategy

Alongside news engagement, we facilitated a dedicated article by travel writer Sarah Turner in The Telegraph, ensuring the property had substantive travel coverage running alongside the political story.

The results

80 pieces of UK coverage across print, online, television and radio, including a standout dedicated feature in The Telegraph on Borgo Egnazia hosting the G7 summit.
